There was an interesting article in the Los Angeles Times this morning about mansionization in Glendale. This is not a new issue as we are now seeing this issue reported on a very frequent basis. Different cities have been passing ordinances regulating the tear down and rebuild process. The Los Angeles City Council is also taking up the issue. It creates an interesting issue where builders are purchasing old homes, knocking them down only to build new larger homes. The lack of empty lots in Los Angeles surely contributes to this phenomenon.
